UP: After Kanpur Zika Virus found in Lucknow
Guwahati: After Kanpur, two cases of zika virus reported in Lucknow district of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.
The two cases in Lucknow come as the number of Zika patients in the Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh continues to rise. In Kanpur, there have been 105 instances reported in the last month, with 17 persons recovering. There are already 88 active cases in the district, according to reports.
On Wednesday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Kanpur and had a review meeting with health officials and local administration in light of the mounting Zika virus cases.
According to reports, a rapid action has been taken to stop the spread of the Zika virus and the initial case discovered in Kanpur Chakeri was the main reason for the virus’s spread.
It was further reported that the people who came in contact with the affected individual have been also tested positive for the virus.
It may be mentioned that Zika virus is a mosquito-borne illness which spread by the Aedes mosquito, this is the same kind of species that spreads dengue and chikungunya viruses.
