Guawahti: In the ongoing war against drugs, one suspected drug peddler has been arrested by the Assam Police for allegedly being involved in drug peddling from Rangia city of Kamrup district.
The arrestee has been identified as Hyder Ali alias Hani who is a resident of Bala Gaon village of the city.
As per the sources of MyNewsNE, Ali was arrested from the National Highway 31 of Rangia city.
The suspected brown sugar was found inside the seat of the two-wheeler with the registration number AS 01 BJ 5607.
On checking the two-wheeler, 8 grams of suspected brown sugar has been recovered from his possession.
Moreover, the police officials seized the bike.
Meanwhile, a legal proceeding has been initiated and further investigation is underway.
It may be mentioned that over the past few months several peddlers have been arrested but the police are unable to arrest the masterminds or primary suppliers of contrabands.
