Guwahati: In the ongoing war against drugs in the state Assam Police seized a huge quantity of drugs and arrested one suspected drug peddler in Nagaon district.
The arrestee has been identified as Moidul Islam and he is a resident of Juria town of the district.
Following a tip off from sources the Nagaon police officials launched an operation against drugs in the district and intercepted a Santro vehicle the Koliabor road and recovered around 75 shop cases drugs from the accused.
The four-wheeler was coming from Lahorighat and enroute to Juria when the police caught the accused.
It needs to be noted that the vehicle is registered with the number AS01 AV 3048.
Meanwhile, the police officials informed that the seized drugs are over 850 grams and the market price of the drugs is more than Rs 5 crores.
Moreover, the police further recovered an amount of total Rs 57000 cash from Moidul Islam.
It mayvbe mentioned that while talking to media the police informed that there are many other people also involved in the drug peddler and the details for the same will come to light after investifation into the matter.
