West Bengal: All Covid curbs lifted as cases dip
Guwahati: Bengal has lifted all Covid restrictions that were previously in place to stop the spread of coronavirus in the state. The advisory on health and hygiene protocols in public areas, on the other hand, will be kept.
Between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., there will be no limits on vehicular mobility.
Maharashtra had also announced the relaxation of Covid limits earlier in the day.
“All restrictions established in the state during the Covid period have been eliminated in Gudipadva. This decision was reached unanimously at a cabinet meeting chaired by Hon’ble Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray,” said state health minister Rajesh Tope in a tweet.
“Mask use is voluntary, and citizens should use the mask as a precaution and be vaccinated,” he continued.
The action comes after the Centre issued a recommendation on March 23 urging states to take a risk-based approach to opening up and announcing that all Covid-19 restrictions will be abolished across the country on March 31 because to the ongoing decline in infections.
In a letter to states, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan emphasised the necessity of continuing to implement and monitor critical steps in order to avoid losing the accomplishments made so far in the fight against coronavirus.
