Guwahati: A 20-year-old youth allegedly committed suicide by consuming a poisonous substance in Bajali district of Assam.
The incident took place in the Pathsala town of the district.
The victim has been identified as Chinmoy Das who is a resident of Amdaw village of the district. He was a sixth-semester student at Patacharkuchi’s NH College.
According to reports, he was found unconscious at his home a few days ago, and when his condition deteriorated; the family members rushed him to a nearby hospital.
He was then shiffted to the Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH).
He reportedly died at the GMCH while undergoing treatment on Tuesday.
It needs to noted that no suicide note was found and it is unclear why he took such drastic measures.
It may be mentioned that the body was handed over to his family for last rites after legal and medical requirements were completed.
