Guwahati: In a tragic incident, a seven-year-old child was crushed to death and one was critically injured when a speeding tractor ran over them in South Salmara-Mankachar district of Assam.
This was informed by officials on Sunday.
The incident was reported from Gazarikandi, Moishaldanga in Mankachar town of the district.
Officials identified the deceased minor child as Mofizur Rahman. He was only seven years old at the time of the accident.
Moreover, the other child who sustained grave injuries in the same incident was identified as Mustafizur Rahman.
He was brought to a hospital where he is undergoing treatment.
The two children were reportedly crossing the street when they were struck by the tractor, according to onlookers.
Meanwhile, the police have begun an inquiry into the incident.
However, no arrest has been made so far in connection with the alleged incident which occurred.
The driver behind the wheels of the tractor that caused the incident is yet to be identified by the police.
