Arunachal Governor Awards Assam Rifles Personnel for Exceptional Bravery in Prestigious Ceremony

Northeast Desk, 5th September: In a distinguished ceremony held at Raj Bhavan’s Durbar Hall on Wednesday, Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik presented the Governor’s Gold and Silver Medals to 23 Assam Rifles personnel in recognition of their outstanding bravery, leadership, and service in both operational and humanitarian missions.

The awards were conferred upon the personnel for their exceptional contributions to security and peace in the region, with the Governor praising their professionalism and courage. “Your actions have brought immense pride not only to yourselves but to the entire force,” Parnaik said, adding that the Assam Rifles has become a vital pillar of strength in the Northeast, particularly in managing insurgency and safeguarding the Myanmar frontier in Arunachal Pradesh.

Among the 13 personnel awarded the Governor’s Gold Medals were Havildar Bhag Singh, Rifleman Govind Singh, and Warrant Officer Rajendra Singh, while 10 others, including Rifleman Lalnghihlova and Rifleman Kotha Chozah, received Silver Medals.

The ceremony, which highlighted the close bond between the Assam Rifles and local communities, was also addressed by Brigadier Sarabjeet Singh, Commander of 25 Sector Assam Rifles, and attended by NCC cadets from the 1 Arunachal Pradesh Battalion. Governor Parnaik commended the Assam Rifles as “Friends of the North East,” underscoring their pivotal role in ensuring peace and prosperity across the region.
