Arunachal Pradesh: Armed Militant Killed in Gunfight in Changlang District

Northeast Desk, 14th September: In an isolated incident, a gunfight occurred between security forces and suspected militants in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district, resulting in the death of an armed militant.

The exchange of fire took place in the Betcamp area, falling under the jurisdiction of Miao Police Station in Changlang district. The incident unfolded when two armed militants shot at a patrolling party of security personnel during a routine watch. The security personnel retaliated, leading to the death of one militant, identified as Thongchi.

The other armed militant managed to escape and is currently at large. Security forces were able to recover a pistol from the encounter site. Officials suspect that the deceased militant was a member of the proscribed National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN).

Further details regarding the incident are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
