Guwahati, 14th September: In the ongoing investigation into the Bajali Corruption case in Assam, the Crime Investigation Department (CID) arrested another police official on Thursday. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sasanka Das of Patacharkuchi Police Station was taken into custody after days of questioning.
Sasanka Das had initially been named as an accused when the case came to light earlier in the month. He had been detained by the Assam CID along with four other police officers and two home guards. After the conclusion of the questioning process, Sasanka Das was arrested by the CID.
Following the arrest, a large CID team departed from the head office with Sasanka Das to conduct an operation at the residence of former Bajali ASP Gayatri Sonowal’s sister-in-law in search of a second Macbook. It has been revealed that Gayatri Sonowal’s sister-in-law is a magistrate by profession.
Additionally, it is likely that Sub-Inspector (SI) Hrishikesh Das will be produced as a witness in the case. Hrishikesh Das had confessed to the allegations against him during the interrogation.
The Bajali Corruption case continues to unfold as authorities investigate the involvement of multiple individuals in the alleged corruption scheme.
