Assam CM Predicts BJP Sweep in Lok Sabha Elections, Expects Boost to Economy from TMC Participation

Guwahati, 21st April: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has confidently forecasted a comprehensive victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming third phase of the Lok Sabha elections, with the exception of one parliamentary constituency.

In a recent interaction with the media, Sarma disclosed that the participation of 126 Trinamool Congress candidates in the Assembly elections would usher in funding from West Bengal, thereby bolstering Assam’s economy.

“If 126 Trinamool Congress candidates participate in the Assembly elections, the funding will come from West Bengal, which will improve Assam’s economy,” remarked Chief Minister Sarma during the media briefing.

Discussing the third phase of Lok Sabha elections in Assam, Sarma asserted that the BJP is poised to clinch victory in all constituencies except Dhubri.

“While there will be competition in the Dhubri seat as our campaign is ongoing, a clearer picture will emerge upon my visit… previously tough seats like Nagaon and Karimganj are now easier,” Sarma elaborated.

Sarma emphasized that intense campaign activities have intensified the competition for the Dhubri seat, and he anticipates a clearer assessment upon his visit. He also noted the transition of Nagaon and Karimganj seats from challenging to more manageable electoral battles.

The constituencies scheduled for the third phase polls on May 7 include Dhubri, Barpeta, Kokrajhar, and Guwahati.

In preparation for the elections, eight candidates have filed their nomination papers for the four Lok Sabha constituencies in Assam, slated for voting in the third phase on May 7. Among them, four candidates filed nominations for the Kokrajhar seat, two for Guwahati, and one each for Barpeta and Dhubri constituencies.
