Assam: Drugs worth Rs 16 crore seized in Karbi Anglong, 2 Held
Guwahati: Two persons have been arrested after contraband drugs estimated to be worth around Rs 16 crore seized from a vehicle in Karbi Anglong district of Assam on Sunday.
Based on specific information, the Assam Police along with Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in a joint operation set up a Naka checking at Dilai Tiniali area and intercepted four-wheeler bearing registration number AS-01 MC-4996.
Upon checking, 286 packets of soap cases containing 3.5 kg of heroin were recovered from the vehicle.
The market value of the seized drugs is estimated to be around Rs 16-17 crore.
The arrested persons identified as Golap Khandakar (29) and Sahanur Mir (21) from Barpeta.
This was informed by Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Bokajan, John Das.
“We have arrested two persons in this regard. The market value of the seized drugs is estimated at around Rs 16-17 crore,” John Das said.
Investigation into the matter is underway.
