Assam: Fatal Road Accident Claims Life of Meghalaya power department engineer in Boko
Guwahati, 24th February: In a tragic incident that took place on Friday night at around 10 pm on NH-17 at Shingra Shalni in Boko as a Honda WRV vehicle (ML 08 F0821) collided with a parked truck (AS 01AA 9770) en route from Guwahati to Tura in Meghalaya.
The accident resulted in serious injuries to Sanam Sangma (55 years old) and partial injuries to Henry Sangma (55). Both victims were rushed to Boko Primary Health Centre by the authorities but were later transferred to Gauhati Medical College Hospital for advanced medical care.
Sanam Sangma, an engineer at the ‘Meghalaya Power Corporation Limited,’ succumbed to her injuries in the ICU of Critical Care Hospital, Lakhra, Guwahati, around 3:45 pm.
Henry Sangma, also an engineer in the Meghalaya Urban Development Department, continues to receive treatment for his injuries.
The Boko police have initiated an investigation into the matter. According to the truck driver, the vehicle, transporting cement from Guwahati to Boko, had to halt due to a technical issue.
The body of Sanam Sangma has been transferred to GMCH for postmortem examination, as authorities work to piece together the details surrounding the unfortunate incident.
