Assam: Wild Elephant Tramples Couple To Death In Gauripur

Guwahati, 24th February: In a tragic incident, a man and a woman were trampled to death by a wild elephant in Goalpara district of Assam on February 23.

The incident took place at around 10:30 pm last night in Lakhipur.

According to sources, the pair, suspected to be a couple, encountered a herd of elephants while traveling from Lakhipur to Hati Gaon village on a motorcycle.

In a sudden and devastating turn of events, they were attacked and fatally trampled by an enraged tusker.

The man has been identified as Atul Chandra Nath, a resident of Hatgaon, however the identity of the deceased woman remains unknown.

Sources further reported that Nath was a resident of Hatgaon.

Following the incident, local authorities, including the police and forest officials, immediately reached the scene. They recovered the bodies, which have been slated for post-mortem examinations.
