Assam: Five arrested in cattle smuggling case

Guwahati: Assam Police once again arrested five persons in connection with cattle smuggling in Assam’s Nagaon district on Thursday.

The accused were arrested at Raha while they were on their way to slaughter houses across borders. The police recovered around 25 cattle worth around Rs 20 lakh from the accused.

One truck carrying the 25 cows, bearing the no AS-23-AC-0978, a Swift Dzire car with the registration number AS-02-AD-6155, and an amount of around Rs 37000 along with five phones were seized by the officials.

The news was share by the official Twitter account of Nagaon Police.

The tweet read, “Another consignment of 25 cattle worth ₹20 Lakh caught at Raha while on its way to slaughter houses across borders. Total 5 Arrested in follow up operation. 1 Truck, 1 Car, ₹37K, 5 phones Seized. #AtWork@assampolice @DGPAssamPolice @CMOfficeAssam.”
