Guwahati: Assam Forest department arrested three persons for allegedly selling deer meat in Guwahati.
The three accused persons identified as Shyam Chandra Rai, Arman Puramanik and Mohammad Sahil.
According to reports, the deer meat was recovered from an apartment in Mathgaria area of Guwahati.
Reportedly, based on inputs launched an operation by the forest department at a resident in the area.
Police officials informed that the trio is currently being interrogated to unearth further linkages.
It may be mentioned that a case was lodged against the culprits under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
