Assam Government’s Ambitious Plan: ‘Unity Mall’ to Promote National Integration and ‘Make in India’

Guwahati, 13th September: In a significant move towards promoting national integration and the ‘Make in India’ initiative, the Assam Government has unveiled plans to construct a ‘Unity Mall’ (Ekta Mall) in Guwahati. The project, with an estimated cost of Rs 200 crore, aims to bolster the concept of ‘One District One Product,’ a scheme introduced earlier this year.

This decision was reached during a state cabinet meeting held at Janata Bhawan in Guwahati, presided over by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Assam Tourism Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah, while announcing the key outcomes of the cabinet meeting, revealed that the Unity Mall will be situated near the Assam Trade Promotion Organisation Complex in Betkuchi. The state cabinet has approved a budget of Rs 226 crore for this ambitious project.

The Unity Mall is envisioned to be a hub of national representation, with plans to house 35 showrooms representing all states and union territories, as well as 35 showrooms dedicated to each of the 35 districts within the state. This initiative not only promotes economic growth but also fosters unity and cooperation among regions, contributing to the larger goals of national integration and ‘Make in India.’
