Guwahati, 13th September: Pranabjit Chaliha, also known as Ramu Da, and the father of Veer Lachit Sena leader Shrinkhal Chaliha, passed away at the age of 73 on Wednesday. Sources report that Pranabjit had been battling a lung disease for an extended period and was receiving treatment at Assam Medical College and Hospital, where he eventually breathed his last.
Born on April 2, 1950, in Sivasagar, Pranabjit Chaliha played a prominent role as a leader during the infamous Assam Andolan. He also ventured into electoral politics, contesting assembly elections from the Sivasagar constituency in 2001, 2006, and 2011.
His legacy lives on through his family, particularly through his son, Shrinkhal Chaliha, who is a senior leader of the Veer Lachit Sena. Our condolences go out to the Chaliha family during this difficult time as they mourn the loss of a respected leader and loved one.
