Assam: Miscreants Open Fire on Businessman in Chirang

Guwahati: In an untoward incident, a 55-year-old person has been critically injured after being allegedly shot by unidentified miscreants in Chirang district of Assam on Saturday midnight.

The incident occurred at around 12:30 am at Amteka market under Amguri Police Station.

The injured identified as Anil Ishwary, a small businessman of Amteka.

According to reports, Anil has been badly injured after being hit by three bullets. He was shot in the chest and the hand.

Anil is currently receiving treatment at the Lower Assam Hospital in Bongaigaon in a severe condition.

Reportedly, miscreants shot at the victim through his house window while he was sleeping.

A team of police officials from Bijni in Chirang is currently investigating the incident.

However, the cause of the incident is yet to be ascertained.
