Assam Panchayat Elections Scheduled for November, Announces CM Himanta Biswa Sarma
Guwahati, 6th June: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on June 6 that the state will hold its panchayat elections in November this year. During a media briefing, CM Sarma outlined the government’s preparation plans, including the restructuring of all development blocks and the completion of panchayat delimitation by August-September.
In addition to the election announcement, CM Sarma discussed the Assam Orunodoi Scheme, revealing the formation of a cabinet sub-committee to review the initiative. The committee consists of ministers Ajanta Neog, Dr. Ranoj Pegu, Ranjeet Kumar Dass, and Bimal Bora. This committee is expected to submit its report within a month.
The chief minister’s announcements underscore the state’s commitment to ensuring effective local governance and continuous evaluation of welfare programs.
