Assam Rifles Seizes Rs 12 Crore Worth of Yaba Tablets in Agartala Operation

Agartala: In a significant blow to narcotics smuggling networks, Assam Rifles intercepted a massive consignment of Yaba tablets valued at ₹12 crore in the international market.

The operation, conducted on January 20, took place in the Salbagan area of Agartala city, West Tripura district.

An official statement confirmed the seizure of 60,000 Yaba tablets during the raid.

Two individuals, Kanai Das (36) from Bamutia village and Kishan Kumar Sarkar (32) from Rangutia village, were apprehended in connection with the smuggling attempt.

“The seized contraband and the arrested individuals have been handed over to the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) for further investigation and legal proceedings,” the statement from Assam Rifles noted.

The operation underscores Assam Rifles’ continued efforts to combat narcotics smuggling in the Northeast region, which remains a critical transit route for illegal drug trade.

This latest bust is expected to aid ongoing investigations and disrupt the supply chain of Yaba tablets, a methamphetamine-based drug with high abuse potential.
