Assam: Two miscreated killed in police firing in Chirang

Guwahati: Two miscreants killed in police firing in Chirang district of Assam on Tuesday late night.

The deceased were identified as Manjit Basumatary and Lakhinath Daimary.

The incident took place near the Hagrama Bridge over Aie River in the district.

According to reports, the police opened fire on the miscreants who were suspected to involve in a dacoity in Khamarpara region of the districts which one person was shot to death in the district.

It may be mentioned that a band of miscreants had been broken into at Manoranjan Narzary’s home. The miscreants opened fire in response to the ruckus made by the residents, killing the youth. Raja Boro was the name of the deceased.

Meanwhile, Prakash Medhi, the Additional Superintendent of Chirang Police (SP), was shot in another incident of gunfire in Chirang on Monday night, in which two miscreants were slain.

The incident occurred near the Indo-Bhutan border in Khungring, Runikhata, where police and miscreants exchanged gunfire. During the shooting, two miscreants, suspected of being dacoits, were killed.
