Assam govt amends Section 21A of Registration Act to expedite process of lease of house
Guwahati: The Assam Government Revised Section 21A of the Registration Act to encourage administrative reforms in the state by allowing residents to purchase property without obtaining a No-Objection Certificate (NOC).
The modified Act exempts Assamese citizens from obtaining a NOC from the District Commissioner DC while purchasing houses, flats, residential units, commercial buildings, and so on.
The step was made to expedite the transfer/lease of a house, flats, residential apartments, commercial buildings, and other properties. As a result, according to a notification issued by the Government of Assam, no NOC from DCs will be required.
Sharing the news on Twitter, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “To give administrative reforms a boost, the GoA amended Section 21A of the Registration Act to speed up the registration process for the transfer/lease of houses, flats, residential apartments, commercial buildings, and so on. There will be no need to obtain NOC from DCs in the future.”
