Guwahati: The body of an unidentified woman has been recovered from a paddy field in the Sonitpur district of Assam on Thursday.
According to reports, the body was found lying in the adjoining areas of Dholai Beel train station in Jamugurihat of the district.
The woman is suspected to be allegedly raped and then murdered. The woman’s age would be around 35 years old.
Meanwhile, liquor bottles were also discovered next to the body.
According to locals, the woman was not a resident of the area.
It may be mentioned that the Jamugurihat police have initiated a probe into the matter and the identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.
