BJP Vice President in Tripura Issued Show Cause Notice for Remarks Against Allied Party Leader

Northeast Desk, 25th April: The Tripura Pradesh BJP has issued a show cause notice to its vice president, Patal Kanya Jamatia, following her purported remarks against another allied party leader, Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, founder of TIPRA Motha.

The notice was issued shortly after Jamatia launched a verbal attack on Debbarma, labeling him a “nautanki baaz” (a performer) and questioning his authority to criticize the BJP’s vice president despite being a member of the party.

Accusing Debbarma of sowing divisions in Tripura along community, party, and ethnic lines, Jamatia demanded that he apologize to the indigenous Tiprasa community for his alleged “divide and rule” tactics or face a lack of support.

In response to Jamatia’s statement, BJP general secretary Bipin Debbarma issued a show cause notice, citing a breach of party discipline and raising concerns over the impact on the Lok Sabha Elections-2024.

The notice directed Jamatia to explain her conduct within five days, highlighting the need for clarification on her violation of party discipline and the unauthorized nature of her press conference remarks.
