Public Outcry Erupts as Cattle Smuggling Operation Foiled in Assam’s Kokrajhar District

Guwahati, 25th April: A car carrying smuggled cows was intercepted and seized at Tulsibeel in Gosaingaon under Kokrajhar district of Assam, sparking outrage among the local populace and leading to a confrontation resulting in the detention of one suspect.

According to reports, an agitated crowd halted the vehicles transporting cows and resorted to public beating, expressing their anger over the illegal transportation of cattle. Three cows were found hidden in the four-wheeler luxury vehicle, raising suspicions of organized smuggling activities.

Sadeq Ali, one of the individuals involved, was detained by the public, while another suspect named Hashem Ali managed to escape. The agitated crowd took matters into their own hands, damaging the four-wheeler in their fervor to address the issue of cattle smuggling.

The situation escalated to the extent that the Tulsibeel police had to intervene to bring the situation under control. The police arrived at the spot as tensions ran high, ensuring that no further escalation occurred.

The vehicle transporting the smuggled cows was intercepted by vigilant citizens at Kartimari No. 1 while en route from Tulsibeel to Dhubri. The vehicle in question bore the registration number AS 01Q 0014.

Allegations have surfaced regarding an illegal arrangement between the smugglers and the Tulsibeel police on cattle smuggling. Local residents have expressed frustration over the recurring incidents of cattle theft in the Tulsibeel area, accusing the police of negligence in addressing the issue.
