Drug Peddler Injured in Police Encounter in Darrang
Guwahati: One suspected drug peddler has been injured in an encounter with the police in the Darrang district of Assam on Friday.
The accused has been identified as Kuddus Ali is a resident of Hirapara village in Dalgaon Tehsil of the district. He was arrested as the police had allegedly found a huge quantity of contraband drugs in his possession.
According to reports, he was shot on his left leg by the Dhula Police for allegedly trying to escape from the police.
However, the rising number of encounters has whipped up since the BJP government, led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took power, 33 individuals have been killed and at least 70 have been injured in police action while reportedly attempting to flee from custody or attacking officers.
