Harayana: Apartment roof collapse in Gurugram, One dead & 2 trapped

Guwahati: One person was killed and two others were trapped under debris after the roof of an apartment in Haryana’s Gurugram collapsed on Thursday evening.

The incident took place on the 6th floor of the D Block of Chintels Paradiso housing complex in Gurugram’s Sector 109.

According to reports, the drawing room floor of a room on the floor was under restoration when it collapsed.

All of the building’s roofs and floors collapsed at the same time, starting on the 6th storey and ending on the ground floor.

According to reports, while addressing to media, Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram Nishant Kumar Yadav said that of the remaining two people trapped, one has yet to be found and the other will be recused shortly.

“Three people were trapped, one of them died on the first storey. Her body has been found. The woman on the second floor, out of the remaining two, has yet to be found. On the same floor, a man is half-trapped. We’ll save him in half an hour since he’s awake ” Yadav stated.

According to the Deputy Commissioner, the tragedy could have been caused by building activities on the sixth storey.

“Only these three were afraid of being trapped. The collapse of just dining spaces (in apartments) from 6-1 levels could have been caused by building operations on the sixth floor. Other rooms on the 6-1 floor are in good condition. The investigation will be ordered the following day. If there are any lapses, action would be taken “he said.

It needs to be mentioned that the teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are present on the spot and rescue operations are underway.

Chief Minister of Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar has stated that he is personally watching the situation.

“Administrative officials, along with SDRF and NDRF teams are busy in the rescue & relief work after the unfortunate collapse of the apartment roof at the Paradiso Housing Complex in Gurugram. I am personally monitoring the situation and I pray for everyone’s safety,” said Khattar in a tweet.

According to Kaushal Kumar, a building resident, the incident occurred around 6 p.m. in the apartment’s D Tower, and six floors of the building collapsed.

“From the sixth to the first storey, the drawing room area fell. Some areas are still gradually deteriorating “he stated.

He further informed that the tower housed four families and that just two of the six units were unoccupied.
