India Mourns the Passing of Radio Icon Ameen Sayani

National Desk, 21st February: India is in mourning as legendary radio personality Ameen Sayani has passed away. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma expressed his condolences, acknowledging Sayani’s profound impact on the nation’s airwaves. Sayani, celebrated for his iconic show ‘Geetmala,’ breathed his last at the age of 91 after suffering a heart attack on Tuesday night. He was rushed to HN Reliance Hospital in Mumbai, where he succumbed to his condition.

Ameen Sayani’s illustrious career spanned over six decades, leaving an indelible mark on Indian broadcasting. His renowned greeting, “Behno aur Bhaiyo” (sisters and brothers), endeared him to millions of listeners, making him a household name across the country.

Recognized as a pioneer of radio in India, Sayani’s contributions extended beyond entertainment. He played a pivotal role in popularizing radio listening, captivating audiences with his knowledge, wit, and engaging presentation style.
