Chief ministers from numerous states including Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttarakhand attended the pan-India event.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted his compatriots on International Yoga Day earlier today, saying that it promotes peace in society.
Addressing the main event in the heritage city of Mysuru in Karnataka, PM Modi said, “On this 8th International Yoga Day, I extend my greetings to all. Yoga is now practised in every country on the planet. Yoga provides us with a sense of calm. Yoga offers peace not just to people, but also to our nations and the planet.”
“Yoga is beneficial not just to individuals, but also to the entire human race. The subject of International Yoga Day is ‘Yoga for humanity’ for this reason “PM Modi stated.
“Our own body and soul are the origins of the entire cosmos. The universe begins with us. Yoga also makes us aware of all that is going on inside of us and develops a sense of awareness “he stated.
“The cosmos begins with us. Yoga also makes us aware of all that is going on inside of us and develops a sense of awareness “He added.
This year’s theme is “Yoga for Humanity.” It was chosen after much deliberation and consultation, and it accurately depicts how, during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, yoga assisted humanity in alleviating sufferings, and how, in the emerging post-COVID geopolitical scenario, it will continue to bring people together through compassion, kindness, foster a sense of unity, and build resilience among people all over the world.
Further, the Ministry of Ayush has designated 75 places where Union Ministers can join in the Yoga Day celebration in order to keep the underlying theme of India’s 75th anniversary of independence alive.
