Manipur CM N Biren Singh to Inaugurate Statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Tawang
Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh – Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh is set to attend the inauguration of a statue of freedom fighter Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on Thursday, coinciding with Patel’s birth anniversary. This significant tribute also includes the unveiling of the Major Ralengnao Bob Khating Museum of Valor, dedicated to honoring the late Major’s legacy.
Ahead of the event, Singh met with Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, along with Arunachal Governor KT Parnaik. Their discussions emphasized a shared commitment to preserving India’s historical unity.
In a post on social media platform X, Singh reflected on the meaningful conversations held in Tawang, highlighting the importance of celebrating national unity. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also commemorated National Unity Day at the Statue of Unity in Kevadia, Gujarat, where he paid tribute to Patel’s legacy, administered the Unity Oath, and participated in the Unity Day Parade.
Prime Minister Modi noted, “Protecting the unity and sovereignty of the nation was [Patel’s] top priority; his life’s work will continue to inspire future generations.”
Sardar Patel, born on October 31, 1875, in Nadiad, Gujarat, was instrumental in uniting 562 princely states into the Republic of India, serving as the nation’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister. National Unity Day, celebrated since 2014, includes “Run for Unity” events nationwide to honor Patel’s contributions.
