Manipur: Congress chief N Loken Singh resigns
Guwahati: Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee Chairman Nameirakpam Loken Singh resigned as the party’s chairman on Wednesday.
The new development comes after Congress interim chairwoman Sonia Gandhi fired party chiefs in five states on Tuesday, including Manipur, where the party’s membership had been cut to single digits.
Singh resigned as party president, acknowledging moral responsibility for the party’s loss in Manipur elections.
After submitting his resignation letter, Singh tweeted, “I take responsibility of the defeat of Congress in the Assembly Election 2022 in Manipur. I do hereby resign from the Presidentship of MPCC.”
