Guwahati: A powerful bomb was found nearby a warehouse at Telipati in Manipur’s capital Imphal on Tuesday morning.
The device was placed next to a Ram Nath Sahu, a businessman, owned warehouse.
The improvised explosive device (IED) was found by the Manipur Police bomb squad and afterwards defused in a secure location, Superintendent of Police, Imphal East District M Pradip said.
The location is in the Imphal East district and is covered by the Porompat Police Station.
The authorities allege that the powerful device, which weighed about 5 kg, had the potential to kill several people.
The bomb was discovered by the morning strollers at around 7.30 am. The police cordoned off the area before removing the explosive to avoid any unintended casualties.
Meanwhile, security measures in the area have also been examined after the incident.
