Manipur Violence: Situation Under Control and Flag March Underway in Churachandpur

Guwahati, 5 May: The situation in Manipur has been brought under control through concerted efforts from all parties involved. IAF Used AN 32 and C17 Globemaster aircraft to conduct nonstop fligts from two airfields in Assam.

According to reports, induction started on the evening of May 4 and additional columns started dominating on May 5 in the early hours. Throughout the night control over and evacuation of all communities’ civilians from impacted areas continued. Flag-march are underway in the sensitive Churachandpur district.

Many families affected by recent incidents have sought refuge in Assam amid reports of sporadic violent incidents in the state of Manipur.

Taking to his micro-blogging site, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Several families affected by the recent incidents in Manipur have sought refuge in Assam. I have requested the District Administration of #Cachar to take care of these families.I am also in constant communication with the HCM @NBirenSingh and have pledged the full support of the Assam Government during this hour of crisis.”
