Massive Cache of AK-47 Ammunition Seized in Mizoram

Northeast Desk, 13th September: In a significant development, authorities in the northeastern state of Mizoram have successfully seized a substantial cache of live ammunition, including AK-47 assault rifle bullets. This operation, conducted jointly by Mizoram Police and Assam Rifles, unfolded on Wednesday based on specific intelligence reports.

During the operation, a staggering 1,800 live rounds of AK-47 ammunition were swiftly confiscated. The story began when informants provided critical information, prompting the establishment of a checkpoint in Mizoram’s Siaha district. Troopers from both Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police undertook thorough search operations.

In a pivotal moment during the checkpoint inspection, three suspicious vehicles en route from Arsung to Lawngtlai town in the Lawngtlai district of Mizoram were intercepted and meticulously searched. This resulted in the discovery and immediate seizure of 1,800 live rounds of AK-47 bullets.

In a subsequent development, three individuals, including two Myanmar nationals, were apprehended during this operation. They now face charges related to the illicit smuggling of AK-47 ammunition.

Authorities have handed over the arrested trio, along with the confiscated ammunition, to the custody of Siaha Police.
