Meghalaya police rescue abducted Assam’s vegetable vendor, kidnappers on the run
Guwahati: A 57-year-old vegetable vendor from Assam has been rescued by the East Garo Hills district police’s special operations unit on Friday.
The victim has been identified as Hanif Ali who is a resident of Krishnai town in Goalpara district.
Ali was reportedly abducted by a gang of kidnappers from Nongchram village on March 23rd midnight.
According to reports, Ali was sleeping in the house of one Mahabel Marak’s house when an unknown person entered the house and took him away.
Following the incident, a complaint was filed at Rongjeng police station.
As per official, the East Garo Hills Superintendent of Police launched a search operation, after receiving information from various sources.
Meanwhile, an operation squad led by Dysp Anthony Ch Momin entered Dimit Chikamagre and raided the victim’s hideout.
However, the kidnappers took advantage of the impenetrable jungle to flee from the spot.
It may be mentioned that an operation is underway to nab the culprits.
