Pipeline burst at Kopili Dam power, 3 NEEPCO officials feared dead
Guwahati: At least three officials were feared dead after a water supply line of the Kopili hydroelectric project at Umrangshoo in Dima Hasao district of Assam burst on Saturday morning.
The deceased persons have been identified as Anupam Saikia of Borbaruahtakla in Jorhat district, Jayanta Hazarika of Muliabari road in Tinsukia district and Demeraj Johari of Choto Washingtu in Dima Hasao district.
According to reports, the penstock pipe that transports water from the Umrangso dam to the hydropower building reportedly ruptured.
The Kopili Hydro Electric Plant was also flooded to a great extent.
It may be mentioned that a similar incident occurred in 2019 at the Kopili hydropower facility in Umrangso, which was reported by North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO).
