Meghalaya Polls: CM Conrad Sangma Promises 5 Lakh Jobs In Next Five Years

Guwahati: The National People’s Party (NPP) leader and chief minister of Meghalaya Conrad K. Sangma stated that his party is commited to make sure that young people have access to employment possibilities.

Sangma travelled more than 20 kilometres at the lead of a cavalcade of over 2000 bikes before arriving in style in Ampati, the Trinamool Congress leader Mukul Sangma’s traditional stronghold amid the thumping of the bikes.

He promised that the NPP would create 5 lakh employment through various entrepreneurial programmes and projects while addressing an electoral rally in Ampati on Tuesday.

According to him, the NPP government launched several welfare programmes for young people over the previous five years, including PRIME an initiative that offered financial support and training for entrepreneurial endeavours.

“Our party has been committed for the welfare of the youth, through programmes like PRIME, we have promoted entrepreneurship in Meghalaya,” he said. He said it had been endeavour of NPP to channelise the positive potential of the youth with programmes like ASPIRE Meghalaya and YESS Meghalaya,” Conrad K Sangma said.

He said that young people in the State have the ability to excel in sports, music and other extracurricular pursuits. To provide them with opportunity, he said the NPP would continue to support youth programmes by hosting local, state and regional sports and games.

“In the next five years, if we get the mandate of the people, we will continue with our programme for leveraging the positive energy of our youth,” he assured.
