Polling for 60 seats Begins In Tripura Assembly Election 2023

Guwahati: Voting for Tripura’s 60 Assembly seats began under heavy security throughout state on February 16 in the morning.

There have been no reports of violence throughout the voting process which began at 7 AM amid high security but poll workers have replaced some EVMs that had problems.

Around 310 candidates were nominated for this election; 19 of those nominations were rejected while 32 were withdrawn leaving 259 candidates still in the running.

Among this 259 candidates 28 are from All Indian Trinamool Congress, 55 from BJP, 13 from Congress, 6 from IPFT, Tipra Motha fielded 42 candidates, 43 from CPI (M), 1 each from CPI, CPI (M)L, AIFB, TSP, RSP, 7 from other unrecognized party and 58 others from Independent party.

Up to 28 lakh 13 thousand voters will exercise their right to vote in this election at roughly 3, 337 polling places spread out over the state.

This time about 80,000 additional voters who will cast their vote today were added to Tripura’s final electoral records.

About 11, 000 women registered to vote in this election.

There will be an additional 77 transsexual voters up from the previous 46.
