Dispur: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the residence of noted activist against witch-hunting Padma Shri Dr Birubala Rabha at Thakurbila village on Assam-Meghalaya border in Goalpara district and took stock of her health condition.
The Chief Minister interacted with the renowned activist who hasn’t been well for a while and handed over a cheque of Rs 1 lakh from CM’s Relief Fund as an aid for her treatment. He also wished her a speedy recovery so that she resumes her tirade against the menace of superstition with greater zeal and fortitude.
Noteworthy that Padma Shri Dr Birubala Rabha has been fighting a relentless battle against superstition and social evils like witch-hunting. Through ‘Mission Birubala’, she has been working to generate awareness against witch-hunting and in the course has saved many lives.
