Sikkim: SDF Leader Shiva Kumar Timsina Resigns, Cites Personal Reasons

Northeast Desk, 14th September: Shiva Kumar Timsina, a prominent member of the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF), resigned from the party on Saturday, September 14, in a formal letter addressed to party president and former Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling.

In his resignation letter, Timsina praised Chamling’s immense contributions to Sikkim, acknowledging his historic tenure as India’s longest-serving Chief Minister and his efforts in modernizing the state. “You have made our head upright, and thou shalt be our crown forever,” he wrote, reflecting deep admiration for Chamling’s leadership.

Timsina expressed regret over not being able to work more closely with Chamling but explained that personal reasons had prompted his decision to step down. He also conveyed gratitude for the leadership experiences he gained during his time with the SDF, noting that his journey with the party had been invaluable.

The resignation marks a significant departure within the SDF as Timsina was considered a strong advocate of the party’s vision for Sikkim.
