Sikkim’s Phurba Tamang Clinches Silver Medal at TCS World 10K Bengaluru Marathon

Northeast Desk, 28th April: Phurba Tamang, known as the Marathon Girl of Sikkim, showcased her exceptional talent by securing the Silver medal in the 25-29 Age category at the esteemed Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) World 10K Bengaluru Marathon. Hailing from Lingmoo in South Sikkim, her remarkable achievement adds to her reputation as a formidable runner.

The 16th edition of the event commenced on Sunday morning with a revised route that challenged participants from across the country and beyond. Departing from the Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw Parade Ground and concluding at the Army Public School, this year’s marathon introduced a fresh perspective to the race.

Despite stiff competition from elite runners representing various regions of India and international contenders, including formidable contingents from Kenya renowned for their distance running prowess, Phurba Tamang’s dedication, endurance, and skill propelled her to the podium. Her remarkable performance earned her well-deserved recognition as a standout performer in the World 10K Bengaluru Marathon.
