Suspended Assam Police Officer Sent to Judicial Custody for Assault Case

Guwahati, 12th September: Subhalakshmi Dutta, the suspended Additional Superintendent of Police (Border) in Charaideo district, Assam, has been sent to judicial custody following her alleged involvement in an assault case.

Dutta was initially remanded to three-day police custody on September 9. However, her bail plea was rejected by the court, leading to her transfer to Sivasagar jail, where she will remain incarcerated.

The criminal case against Dutta was registered on August 27 in Nazira, Assam, after accusations of torturing her house help came to light. These allegations prompted an inquiry ordered by the Assam Police Headquarters.

The disturbing details of the case include accusations of pouring hot water onto the maid’s body and confining her to a bathroom, highlighting the severity of the alleged abuse.
