Guwahati: Three persons were arrested for allegedly beating up a police constable who had asked them to wear a mask in Tinsukia district.
The arrested persons were identified as Kiron Gohain, Kaushik Gohain, and Bhabesh Gohain. Apart from these three, the other two accused are still on run.
The five persons had allegedly assaulted the police official on Monday evening near Dihingia Chariali in Tinsukia. The police official had asked the five men to wear a mask but that ended up with a quarrel and a “fight” between the five persons and the constable.
The constable was identified as Mayur Ranjan Das of the 2nd Assam Police Battalion (APBn). He was posted at the Panitola Police Station. The incident took place while Das was on his way home.
A senior police official informed that operations to nab the other two accused are on and both of them will also soon be arrested.
Along with this, a video that went viral where it was seen that the five persons were beating the constable is also being analyzed by the police.
