UN gives $20 million to scale up Ukraine humanitarian aid
Guwahati: The United Nations has declared that it will allocate a sum of ‘$20 million’ to boost up UN humanitarian activities in Ukraine, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The declaration was made by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who stated that the UN and its humanitarian partners are committed to staying and delivering to help people in Ukraine in their time of need.
UN humanitarian director Martin Griffiths said the $20 million from the UN’s Central Emergency Response Fund will support and assist the most vulnerable people affected by the war with health care, shelter, food, and water and sanitation.
In addition, the US Agency for International Development announced the deployment of a Disaster Assistance Response Team to address the mounting humanitarian needs caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
