Assam Celebrates Saraswati Puja & R-Day

Guwahati: Assam observed both Saraswati Puja and Republic Day on Thursday.

Despite the bandh demand from the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I), students may be seen going to their different educational institutions to pray to the Goddess of Knowledge.

After raising the national flag in honour of Republic Day, the rituals for the puja have begun at schools, colleges, and universities.

Hindus celebrate Basant Panchami as a day to pay homage to Saraswati, the goddess of learning and wisdom. It is observed between the months of February and March, during the time between winter and spring. The fifth day of the Hindu calendar is referred to as “Panchami,” while the English word for spring is “Basant.” As a result, Saraswati Puja should only be performed on Pancham Tithi in the Hindu calendar.
