Guwahati: South Korean business leaders have shown keen interest in investment opportunities in Assam during Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s visit to Seoul. Over 140 prominent business figures attended the Advantage Assam roadshow, marking a significant step in strengthening economic ties between Assam and South Korea.

During the event, CM Sarma engaged with potential investors, underscoring Assam’s strategic position as a gateway to Southeast Asia and its growing importance in India’s fast-developing economy. He emphasized the state’s potential for fostering business opportunities, particularly in sectors like infrastructure, agriculture, and manufacturing.

“The Korean business community is optimistic about India’s standing as the world’s fastest-growing major economy,” Sarma remarked. He pointed out that Assam offers unique market access for international investors looking to tap into India’s diverse and expanding economy.

The roadshow, organized by the Indian Chamber of Commerce in South Korea, marked the first leg of Sarma’s five-day diplomatic mission to East Asia. His visit is focused on promoting ‘Advantage Assam 2,’ the state’s investment promotion initiative, in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Act East Policy. The policy aims to enhance India’s economic and strategic ties with East Asian countries.

Following his visit to Seoul, CM Sarma will continue his diplomatic mission in Tokyo, where he plans to meet with Japanese business leaders and potential investors. The goal is to further strengthen Assam’s international economic partnerships and attract more investments to the state.
